Sobriety of Thought Column

Thought-provoking questions and points to ponder for growth.

Hello, and thank you for visiting our Sobriety of Thought Column. God has given us a beautiful world, but often, we are so busy with the hustle and bustle of life that we miss many things. We should be watchful and think soberly because we have an enemy who wants to disrupt our lives.

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour”

(1 Peter 5:8).

I wrote this column of thought-provoking questions and points to ponder to help us become alert and sober-minded. Perhaps you can read one each day as you have your morning coffee or another quiet time you choose. But do take time to think and ponder.  An excerpt from a poem I wrote titled Fresh Dew sheds light on our need for quiet time. (Right)

So, grab your coffee or other beverage and watch a beautiful sunrise, sunset, or even glistening white snow from the warmth of your abode as you review our column and “Think about It.”

Fresh Dew

In quietness, you can understand.

There you hear His voice, not that of man.

Scurrying about will never do it.

In silence, not rushing, you hear a bit.

In the solemnness of stillness,

You can reflect with mindfulness.

In loud clamor, much is missed.

Clanging symbols in the midst.
