Chaplain Bill was retiring. I had heard him play the trumpet many times during required chapel attendance, but not like at my graduation. At my seminary graduation, Chaplain Bill played what was his last official trumpet blast as official DTS staff. Wow! He appeared to be blowing that trumpet with all his might. It blared, flared, and did what no other trumpeter had ever done that I had seen. I thought of it as “the last blast.” I imagine that the angel Gabriel even gave him a standing ovation, as did the audience. It was powerful. That’s how I want to go out in my life for Christ. Give my all with everything within me. Blast for Christ!
